Albion Online's Dragonfire Update Arrives August 31 with Dragons, Raids, and New Realms
The Dragonfire update reshapes Albion's endgame with large-scale dragon encounters, a new raid dungeon, and a floating island realm accessible through Ashborn-opened portals.
Albion Online's next major content update, Dragonfire, is set to land on August 31. The update centers on a lore pivot: the Ashborn have awakened the Dragons of Albion's ancient past, and the world — both the Royal Continent and the Outlands — will feel the consequences.
What changed
- Open-world dragon attacks will strike both the Royal Continent and the Outlands, offering spontaneous encounters for solo players and large guilds alike. Rewards are shared among those who defeat the creatures, though players may also turn on each other in the process.
- Azaryon, the Fire Dragon, is the update's centrepiece PvE challenge — a boss buried in a lair described as accessible only to highly skilled, coordinated groups.
- The Ancient Lands, a previously unknown realm, opens via Ashborn portals. A series of floating islands connected by further portals host Ashborn enemies, powerful Drakes, and escalating difficulty the deeper players venture — with rival players adding additional danger.
- The Dragon Sanctuary, a brand-new Raid Dungeon, can be reached by those who push far enough into the Ancient Lands.
Taken together, Dragonfire appears to expand Albion's high-end PvE considerably while folding open-world PvP tension into every new activity — a design choice that should affect guilds and solo players in markedly different ways.
