Battlefield 6 Season 4 Phase 2 Brings Back Wake Island and Carrier Strike
The Top Gun update restores a fan-favourite map and mode while quietly introducing a quality-of-life crosshair feature that teaches weapon mechanics.
Season 4's Phase 2 — titled Top Gun — is now live in Battlefield 6, and developer communications are catching up those who missed the launch.
What changed
- Wake Island returns as a playable map under the Top Gun banner.
- Carrier Strike mode is back, framed around a conflict over Tsuru Reef: NATO's USS Grant carrier base faces assault from Pax Armata's PXS Condor, with control of a Pacific sector at stake.
- Update 1.4.2.0 shipped alongside the content drop, containing detailed patch changes.
- ADS Dispersion Crosshair is a new optional indicator that displays the current spread/bloom of a weapon while aiming down sights. The crosshair visibly expands when firing an automatic weapon continuously or when moving, giving real-time feedback on accuracy degradation.
The crosshair addition is modest in scope but deliberate in intent: it surfaces a mechanical system — dispersion — that has historically been invisible to players, and frames itself explicitly as a learning aid rather than a competitive toggle.
For players returning after a break, the combination of a legacy map, a returning large-scale mode, and at least one UI transparency improvement gives Season 4 Phase 2 more surface area than a typical mid-season content drop.
