Below, Rusted Gods Launches on Steam — Horror from the Control Room
A two-person studio's asymmetric horror game, built around radio silence and incomplete information, is now available on Steam with a launch discount.
What it is
Below, Rusted Gods places the player not in the field but behind a bank of instruments — as the remote Operator guiding an expedition into an unnamed underground. Information arrives through radio transmissions, surveillance cameras, radar, and medical readouts. The source of dread is structural: the player never sees the full picture.
The game was developed by From South Games, a two-person team working on the project over approximately two years while both members held full-time jobs. It is self-published.
What the release includes
- A narrative horror experience built around remote communication
- Radio transmissions and decisions that affect the expedition's outcome
- Surveillance, radar, medical, and electrical systems
- Environmental puzzles requiring careful interpretation of limited information
- Four different endings
- Full Steam Deck Verified support
Context
Prior to launch, the game accumulated more than 60,000 Steam wishlist additions. A demo was available during development. The studio cites community playtesting, bug reports, and content creation as contributions to reaching release.
A 10% launch discount is currently active on the Steam store page. The developers have stated they will continue monitoring post-launch feedback and addressing reported issues.
For players drawn to games where inference and partial knowledge carry the dramatic weight, Below, Rusted Gods frames its horror as an information problem rather than a reflex one.
