Bookshop Simulator 1.0 Brings Multiplayer, the Cotswolds, and Magazines

Bookshop Simulator's 1.0 update, published 20 July 2026, is a substantial one — adding cooperative play, a new store location, and a fresh item type in a single drop.

What changed

Multiplayer

• Up to four players can share a game session, joined via Steam's friend list or direct invite.
• Certain progression thresholds scale with player count — employee unlock levels and buildable availability (such as checkout counters) adjust based on how many people are in the game.

New location — The Cotswolds, England

• A two-storey shop set in a snowy atmosphere, with a balcony overlooking part of the ground floor and a storage room at the back left.
• Priced at 3,000 bleps if purchased as a second store (right after Lyon), or 300,000 bleps as a fourth store when all others are already owned.

New item type — Magazines

• Unlocked when The Cotswolds store reaches level 12.
• Five magazines arrive in the initial batch, functioning like other licensed products (books, manga, comics).
• A dedicated magazine bookshelf has been added to the in-game DepotMax app.

Flyers

• A flyer stand becomes purchasable in DepotMax once any shop reaches at least level 5, letting players hand out flyers to passersby to attract more customers.

Taken together, the update meaningfully widens both the social and commercial dimensions of the game — co-op sessions now have built-in tasks for every player, while the Cotswolds and magazines give solo players fresh progression to pursue.
