Brighter Shores Patch Adds Food to Provisions Belt, Fixes XP Bug at High Levels
A compact but consequential update smooths out movement interruptions, corrects a high-level XP block, and clarifies how the new Shipwreck world event's time slots actually work.
The 16 September patch for Brighter Shores, authored by Fen James, addresses a cluster of quality-of-life friction points alongside several bug fixes — and clears up confusion around the game's new Shipwreck world event.
Shipwreck clarification
The first few time slots for the Shipwreck event are intentionally disabled on its opening day only, so the development team can monitor for problems while the studio is staffed. All time slots become available on every subsequent day the event runs.
A small performance improvement accompanies this: the Get Wrecked Salvage Company room is now hidden while Shipwreck is in progress, producing a modest frame rate gain.
What changed
- Provisions belt (formerly the potions belt) now accepts food as well as potions.
- Rearranging the backpack no longer interrupts movement; attempting to rearrange mid-action is now blocked outright rather than cancelling the action in progress.
- The world event rewards interface has been updated to more clearly indicate which rewards have already been purchased.
- A bug that prevented XP gain at very high levels has been fixed.
- Drinking a healing potion no longer interrupts movement.
- Attempting to drink a potion when conditions prevent it — such as a healing potion at full health — no longer stops the player from attacking.
- A scrollbar bug in the world events drawer has been resolved.
- ALT+KEY keybinds on Windows no longer trigger the system "bell" sound.
Taken together, the movement and potion changes remove several small but persistent breaks in moment-to-moment play flow, while the high-level XP fix is likely the most structurally significant correction for players deep into progression.
