Cat Isle Update Adds Hard Mode, Speed Challenges, and Accessibility Options
A substantial quality-of-life and content patch expands Cat Isle with two new challenge modes, several new languages, and a range of accessibility and control improvements.
Developer Domke has shipped a notable update to Cat Isle — titled the Challenges, Languages & Accessibility Update — that touches gameplay depth, internationalization, and usability in roughly equal measure.
What changed
New challenge modes
- Hard Mode removes tips and order history, leaving only statistics graphs to guide decisions
- Speed Challenge tasks players with beating levels faster than the developers themselves
- Two new achievements tied to completing any Hard Mode level and any Speed Challenge
New language support
- Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian), and Finnish
Quality-of-life and accessibility
- Font style and size settings
- Smooth zoom toggle
- Option to disable mouse-driven camera movement
- Option to make buildings non-clickable during the day
- Default and decoration-specific cursor settings
- In-options display of PC and Steam Deck control layouts
- Hold-to-pet replaces repeated clicking for multiple cats
- Improved control mapping for Steam Deck
- Greater decoration placement freedom in Creative Mode
Bug fixes
- Quit button unresponsive on Level Select screen
- Auto-run breaking on larger islands
- Demo achievements failing to carry over to the full game
- Various smaller issues
The team also notes that community items — trading cards and badges — are in progress, with further bug fixes planned alongside them.
For players who found the base game comfortable, Hard Mode and the Speed Challenge offer a reason to revisit completed levels with meaningfully higher stakes.
