CICADAMATA Update Adds Save Backups and Fixes Stat Tracking
A small but meaningful patch addresses data loss risk and a stuck achievement, while hinting at something stirring around a character called ANGEL.ONR.
Developer flowergarden has pushed an update to CICADAMATA — titled UPDATE + ONEDOTTWO_REV1 — carrying a handful of fixes centered on save reliability and accuracy.
What changed
- Automatic save backups now run every 5 minutes and on quit; up to 10 backups are retained at
%AppData%/Roaming/CICADMATA/SteamID/Backups - Manual restore process: rename the desired backup file to
cicada.mataand replace the main save file with it - Save-on-quit has been added as a dedicated behavior
- The THREAT kill Steam stat now accurately reflects in-save data, which was causing the ULTIMATA achievement to appear stuck
- A potential fix for SPIDERS not setting their position correctly
- Something regarding ANGEL.ONR was, in the developer's words, "thought about a little bit" — no further detail is given
The bulk of the patch note is written as an in-character dialogue between two figures, one of whom describes fixing progress tracking for players whose cicada kill counts were not being recorded properly.
For players, the most immediate gain is protection against save loss: where before a corrupted or missing cicada.mata file could mean starting over, there are now up to ten timestamped fallback points to return to.
