Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Patch 1.12.4 has rolled out across all platforms for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, bringing targeted balance changes to Vanguard enemies, Skitarii class Blitzes, and at least one weapon.

What Changed

Vanguard enemy rebalance

  • Scab Vanguard health reduced significantly across all five difficulty tiers — from a top-end of 2,125 (Auric) down to 1,675
  • Dreg Vanguard health similarly reduced, dropping from 1,625 to 1,450 at the highest tier
  • Blocking radius narrowed from 120 degrees to 100 degrees (the half-arc checked in front of the enemy for guard detection)
  • Concurrent Vanguard spawns during mid- and end-mission Events have been lowered
  • A new stagger mechanic: two rapid pushes will now cause a Vanguard to stumble backward and become vulnerable to attack

Mechanicus Power Sword

  • Fixed a bug where Finesse and First Target stats failed to correctly scale Special activated attacks
  • Melee Strength bonus per Special charge increased from +4% to +5%, raising the six-charge maximum from +24% to +30%

Skitarii Blitzes received adjustments, though specific details were not included in the available patch notes.

Xbox Series S: A black pre-loading screen now appears before the Valkyrie loading screen on mission entry to reduce memory pressure and prevent crashes. Fatshark notes this does not affect load times, and further memory optimisations are planned for a future patch.

For players struggling against Vanguard enemies, the combination of lower health pools, a tighter guard arc, and the new double-push stagger offers meaningfully more ways to break their defense.
