Dungeon Settlers v0.4.23 Expands Expeditions and Rebalances Combat
A wide-ranging update adjusts difficulty scaling, melee weapon balance, and expedition capacity while adding quality-of-life refinements to controls and the Game Guide.
Dungeon Settlers received update v0.4.23 on 12 September 2026, authored by Blacktea. The patch touches difficulty systems, combat balance, UI, and display settings across a substantial list of changes.
What changed
Difficulty & progression
- 'Lock Consecration Results' is now its own setting, available at all Management Difficulty levels and toggleable mid-campaign.
- Research Work Amount multipliers reduced on higher Management Difficulties: Very Hard drops from 1.33× to 1.15×, Devastation from 1.66× to 1.30×.
- Active Skill Energy costs are reduced by 25% on Normal and 50% on Easy.
Combat
- Maximum Expedition size increased to 6 members at Rank 2 and 8 members at Rank 3.
- Skills that can damage allies now have Auto Use disabled by default.
- Stun and Immobilizing effect durations have generally been increased.
- Melee weapons — specifically Spears and Greatswords — have received balance adjustments relative to ranged weapons such as Bows, including changes to Sharp Shooter.
- When an out-of-vision enemy attacks an ally, that enemy's tile is revealed for approximately 2 seconds.
- Soulstones can again be purchased from dungeon merchants in Regions 1 and 2, provided the player does not already own the corresponding Soulstone or Soul Trait.
UI & controls
- The Game Guide now preserves the last viewed page, search term, and scroll positions between sessions.
- A news window now displays update announcements on launch.
- Cursor size is adjustable from 100% to 150%.
- Mouse3 and Mouse4 can be assigned as hotkeys.
- Windowed and Fullscreen modes remember their resolutions separately; Borderless Windowed now shows the actual display resolution; first-time Windowed Mode defaults to 1600×900, scaling down automatically on smaller displays.
- The cursor can no longer leave the game screen while in fullscreen modes (note: source text is truncated here).
Taken together, the update meaningfully lowers friction on lower difficulties, narrows the gap between melee and ranged builds, and makes larger late-game expeditions viable sooner.
