Fields of Mistria v0.16.3 Addresses Crashes and Performance Regressions
A focused bug-fix patch clears out instability introduced by the previous update, targeting screen tearing, stutters, and over a dozen crash vectors.
Fields of Mistria's v0.16.3 patch, published July 11, 2026, is a non-content release aimed squarely at bugs and crashes that surfaced in the v0.16.2 update. The developer notes that nearly every fix in the patch originated from community bug reports and feedback.
What changed
UI
- The "High-Res Framebuffers" settings toggle has been removed; the feature is now always enabled.
Performance
- General performance issues, particularly at large resolutions, have been fixed.
- Screen tearing when VSync is enabled has been resolved. Players still experiencing tearing are advised to enable VSync both in-game and in driver settings.
- Occasional gameplay stutters have been fixed.
- Slowdowns caused by farms with large numbers of animals have been addressed.
Art & Visuals
- Graphical bug with Winter sheep corrected.
- Graphical bug in the Final Seal cutscene corrected.
- Town bridge shadow and Summit Wallpaper now display correctly.
Crash Fixes
- Out-of-bounds bug spawning no longer crashes the game.
- Casting Summon Rain and entering a new room no longer crashes.
- Rare crash when opening the journal during crafting has been fixed.
- Attending the "Date" version of the Shooting Star Festival with the secret bachelor or bachelorette no longer crashes.
- Pheromone spawn failures no longer crash the game.
- The Celine 4H event crash has been resolved.
- Controller trigger button crash fixed.
- Disconnecting a controller during text entry in Big Picture Mode no longer crashes.
- End-of-day menu crash involving barn and coop animals has been fixed.
- Interacting with the Ruins Window furniture item no longer crashes.
The team notes that performance issues on lower-spec devices and occasionally stuck menus remain known, unresolved issues. For a patch with no new content, v0.16.3 meaningfully stabilizes a session that might otherwise have ended in an error screen.
