Flux Empyrean 1.3.0 Reworks Endings, Adds Text Readout, and Shifts Autopilot Unlock
A focused update deepens the game's conclusions and exploration atmosphere while the solo developer signals a gradual pivot toward a new, unnamed project.
Update 1.3.0 for Flux Empyrean arrives with a clear editorial intent from developer chill: the endings needed more weight, and the world needed a stronger sense of presence as players move through it.
What changed
- Endings each now have a unique animation or effect where one was previously absent, and a specific soundtrack track now plays for each — no new music was composed, but existing songs are now assigned permanently to their respective conclusions.
- Texts in the game world now read out when clicked, a change the developer describes as making exploration "quite a bit more engaging."
- A new way to open the Labyrinth has been added.
- Fishing achievements are live, with retroactive unlocks for players who have already caught fish.
- The starting location has changed to Acropolis, intended to give new players a clearer introduction and a more honest preview of the challenges ahead.
- Autopilot now requires two completed endings to unlock, up from one — the developer notes the feature is still experimental and can undercut the satisfaction of learning navigation organically.
- Lorefinder tracking for non-Disc objects has been improved.
- Radar tracking bugs for certain locations have been fixed.
- Endings should now correctly save player location rather than resetting to a random point.
Looking ahead, chill has disclosed that development time between Flux Empyrean updates will lengthen — a second, currently unnamed game is now the primary focus, though updates for Flux Empyrean are described as continuing. For players, 1.3.0 is a meaningful quality pass on the moments that matter most: the ones where the game ends.
