The 1.0 launch brings a permanent progression system, a climactic Hellscape arena, and a price increase — alongside a timed discount for existing fans.

Funguys Swarm, the horde-survival game from Stairway Games, has left Early Access with its 1.0 update, published August 25th.
What changed
- Forest Strength System — completing an Arena now grants a permanent upgrade that carries across future runs, offering more build control over time. Forest Strength 4, for instance, lets players disable specific cards from appearing in a run.
- Hellscape — a new final Arena where the Fire King serves as the climactic boss encounter. Two new enemy types accompany it: Burnt Coal and Burnt Shroom.
- Three new characters — Dr. Botanika, Mr. Midnight, and Steve each forgo a personal weapon, instead directing Ube, a sentry unit that handles the shooting. Dr. Botanika's Ube inflicts Shock on a nearby enemy every three seconds, with Cooldown Reduction affecting that interval.
- Twitch Integration added.
- New skills and passives included in the update.
- Steam Deck Verified status granted at launch.
- Save files carry over from Early Access; all previously unlocked content is preserved. Saves are platform-specific with no cross-platform transfer.
- Price moves to $9.99 (up from the Early Access price of $6.99), with a 20% launch discount running August 25th through September 8th.
For players who stuck through Early Access, the 1.0 release delivers a complete progression loop and a proper final boss — the mechanical throughline the game was building toward.
