Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread Patch Tightens Speedrun Tools and Fixes Boss Logic
A small but focused update addresses a handful of bugs while extending the game's speedrun infrastructure.
Developer kennypark has pushed a September 1, 2026 patch for Gawr Gura: Quest for Bread, arriving alongside a note of thanks for the game reaching 200 community reviews.
What changed
- Milliseconds added to the speedrun timer
- Per-level times now appear in the area select screen
- Fixed the Quest for Speed achievement being incorrectly awarded to all players
- Fixed 'retry boss' failing to clear the hit flag in certain cases
- Fixed Bubba Ball camera controls on gamepad
- Fixed footsteps playing while mounted
The speedrun additions are the most substantive changes here: millisecond precision on the timer and per-level breakdowns in area select give competitive players meaningfully finer data to work with. The Quest for Speed achievement fix is perhaps the most consequential correction — an achievement granted to everyone is, functionally, an achievement for no one.
Kennypark notes three issues still under investigation: speedrun audio cutting out, hat collection behavior in compatibility mode, and lag during the clocktower boss fight. None of those have fixes in this patch.
For players chasing records or clean completions, this update makes the game a more honest scorekeeper.
