GONE Fishing Patch Adds Cutscene Skip, Eases Legendary Bait Requirements
A wide-ranging bug-fix update ahead of the game's 1.0 release lowers the barrier to catching legendary fish and irons out a host of map and creature issues.
The latest GONE Fishing update, posted by developer Bigsexy on October 3, 2026, arrives ahead of a stated 1.0 launch on October 20th. The patch touches everything from cutscene controls to creature pathfinding across multiple maps.
What changed
- Skippable intro cutscene: After ten seconds, the host can hold Space (or X on PS5 controller) for one second to skip the opening plane cutscene.
- Legendary fish bait threshold lowered: The minimum bait score required to catch legendary fish has been reduced from 200 to 175.
- Legendary fish catchability fix: A bug occasionally prevented certain legendary fish from being catchable when fishing with heart.
- Stalker AI fix: The stalker would lock onto a player in bed and fail to re-target an available player — now resolved.
- Public lobby camera fix: Joining a public lobby could swap your camera to the host's perspective for up to a couple of minutes.
- Invisible mouse cursor: The cursor could disappear when opening the options menu.
- Canyon map water gap: A visible gap along the water's edge on the canyon map has been closed.
- Ceiling-stuck fish: Large gambled fish could become lodged in the ceiling on the lake map.
- Creature spawn stuck (canyon): Creatures including Skeeter could get stuck on spawning.
- Butcher table visibility: Blood splatter was obscuring smaller chopped baits on the butcher table.
- Minnow trap loot (lake map): Spawned loot from minnow traps could fall through the building floor.
- Missing footstep audio: Walking on certain surfaces played no sound.
- Jungle map rocks: Creatures could get stuck on specific rocks.
For players working toward legendary catches, the lowered bait threshold is the most immediately practical change — the rest of the patch quietly clears friction that had been accumulating across the game's maps and systems.
