How to Fish Patch 1.0.10 Fixes Roulette, Respawn Bugs, and Griefing
A wide-ranging update addresses a clutch of progression-breaking bugs while adding ground item persistence and a fanart channel.
The developers of How to Fish have released what they describe as the game's biggest patch yet, touching systems from fishing and combat to the roulette table and multiplayer stability.
What changed
New features
- Weapons and tools are now cleaned of cooking residue when dipped in water
- Items dropped on the ground persist between sessions, with a cap of 64 items prioritizing weapons, tools, quest items, and creatures
Balance
- Anglerfish health has been reduced slightly, described as "too annoying" in its previous state
Bug fixes
- Beer no longer bleeds when punched
- A bug allowing players to die to tuna, trigger an albatross spawn, and become unable to respawn has been resolved
- "Last played" timestamps were stored in UTC but not converted to local time; this is now corrected
- Rich text in chat has been removed after griefers exploited it
- Explosion velocity is now capped so items don't disappear out of bounds
- A conflict when both a player and a seagull picked up the same item simultaneously is fixed
- Infinite ticking on the roulette table at high values is resolved, and the roulette ball should no longer clip through the wheel
- Leaving mid-roulette no longer breaks the table for the subsequent session
- Items should no longer spawn at a distance when equipped from inventory, fall through the level on load, or appear in the end-game screen
- The radar's X marker — the last-death position — has been removed for being more confusing than useful
- Connection timeout window has been extended to reduce instant disconnects
- The game version number is now printed in the player log
For a game that leans on shared-world persistence and multiplayer, the ground item save system and the anti-griefing chat fix stand out as the changes most likely to improve daily play.
