The camping sandbox's biggest update removes the location-select screen and stitches all environments into one continuous, drivable map.

I Know a Spot

Solo developer fujivarenko86 has shipped what they describe as the largest update I Know a Spot has received since launch — a structural overhaul that eliminates the game's separate, chooseable locations in favor of a single connected open world.

What changed

  • Discrete scenes removed. Players no longer pick from a menu of individual environments; all locations now exist within one contiguous world.
  • Driving as discovery. The update adds a road network to traverse — or abandon — on the way to finding a campsite.
  • Core sandbox loop preserved. Changing weather, time-of-day shifts, cars, and camping props remain in place; the difference is that players must now travel to find their preferred spot rather than selecting it upfront.
  • Camp setup on arrival. Once a location is found, players park, unpack gear, and build their scene as before.

The update is available now, according to the announcement.

For existing players, the shift is meaningful: the act of finding a place to settle has become part of the game itself, turning what was essentially a scene-dressing sandbox into something closer to a small open-world exploration loop.
