Joe Adventure's Launch-Day Patch Restores Steam Integration and Achievements
A critical connection failure between the game and Steam — introduced in a rushed pre-launch update — has been resolved, taking language loading and achievement unlocking with it.
Developer Harlog shipped a same-day patch for Joe Adventure roughly 24 hours after what the post calls a "panic update" broke core Steam functionality at launch.
What changed
- Language loading fixed: The game now correctly loads the player's chosen language on startup, which had been broken since the prior update.
- Steam connectivity restored: The language bug masked a deeper failure that prevented the game from connecting to Steam properly. Fixing it re-enabled the Steam overlay and achievement unlocking.
- Missed achievements may require replaying: Players who progressed before this patch may need to revisit certain sections to trigger achievements that failed to register.
- Forest 4 geometry adjustment: A mushroom on the Forest 4 level has been moved slightly to the right to prevent players from getting stuck in a position that forced a level restart.
Harlog notes in the post that the Steam connection issue stemmed from the same root cause as the language problem — a single underlying failure with wider consequences than initially apparent.
For players who launched at release, the practical upshot is straightforward: achievements should now fire correctly, the overlay should behave, and at least one navigation snag in Forest 4 has been cleared.
