The horror co-op's largest update yet tackles its two most-criticized systems while laying groundwork for two more major updates ahead.

PANICORE

PANICORE's 1.4 update, published August 18 2026, is described by the developer as the biggest the game has received. Rather than patching the entity AI and voice chat, both were rewritten from scratch — a distinction the announcement makes deliberately.

What changed

  • Entity AI: Rebuilt entirely. Entities now read their surroundings more reliably, track players more consistently, and each has its own perception model. Every difficulty tier is described as hitting harder as a result.
  • Voice chat: Spatial audio now muffles sound through walls, carries around corners, and adds reverb in large spaces. Bandwidth use is halved and the system is designed to hold on poor connections.
  • Walkie talkies: Broadcast ambient voice to anyone on the same channel. Entities can hear them — a radio on your person is a risk, one left on the floor is a single-use decoy. Once an entity investigates and finds no one, it will not be fooled by that radio again.
  • PANIC-meter: Character panic is now a visible, reactive gauge with heartbeat feedback.
  • Full controller support: Covers menus and text input, plus a new item wheel and dance wheel.
  • Results table: Post-run summary shows map, difficulty, run time, files found, and each player's exit time to millisecond precision.
  • Dead player voice channel: Players near a downed teammate's body can hear them.
  • Lobby size: Hosts can unlock lobbies up to 10 players, behind a warning that the game is designed for one to five.
  • Purchase integrity fix: Map purchases now confirm a save was written before charging; damaged saves are restored from backup.
  • HUD and menus: Reworked for visual consistency across the game.

The developer notes 1.4 is also preparation for two further planned major updates — for a co-op horror game built around panic, making that panic legible and the threat behind it smarter is exactly the right foundation to build on.
