Pathogenic Patch Reins In Stacking Exploits, Boosts Underused Organelles

The August 7 update to Pathogenic arrives under a clear mandate: fix the stacking. Developer Tactical Lich notes that community feedback — gathered from Steam and a Discord reporting channel — revealed a cluster of organelles and mutations performing beyond intention because their buffs were multiplying rather than adding together.

The most structural correction lands on Overcharge-strength bonuses, which now stack additively instead of multiplicatively across Conductive slots, plasmids, and mutations. Several specific organelles received tighter numbers to match:

• Lateral Emitter: damage scaling reduced and overcharge bonus trimmed; critically, it now scales off base damage rather than fully-buffed damage, closing a double-dipping interaction with global damage bonuses
• Katanosome: overcharge crit chance halved from +20% to +10% per charge
• Phagosome: overcharge damage-per-kill halved at every rarity tier
• Peroxisome: explosions were re-applying every global on-attack damage bonus a second time — this is now corrected

On the other side of the ledger, seven organelles receive buffs intended to diversify infection strategies:

• Sentry Nidus: turret damage scaling raised sharply (rarity multiplier 20 → 50)
• Swarm Nidus: minion damage rarity multiplier increased
• Gyrase Wheel: stamina cost reduced from 2.0 to 1.4
• Conal Burst: fire interval halved; now re-reads cursor aim on every shot
• Opisthoblast: cones now trigger on missed melee attacks as well as hits
• Dehiscence Lobber and Blastocyst Mortar: grenade and rocket damage both increased

The Heart — described as the game's "final" level — also sees enemy HP adjusted upward to better reflect its late-game position.

For players who built around multiplicative Overcharge stacking, the math changes significantly; those who avoided the now-dominant options have more viable paths forward.
