Phasmophobia's Second QoL Update Adds Restricted Maps for Prison, Brownstone, and Point Hope
Arriving 25 August 2026, the update delivers smaller variants of three large maps and further journal and evidence adjustments.
Kinetic Games' second Quality of Life update for Phasmophobia is scheduled to release across all platforms on 25 August 2026, with exact times still to be confirmed. The announcement, authored by Tom Dent, follows what the team describes as a warm reception to the first QoL update released the prior month.
What changed
New Restricted map variants are the headline addition:
- Point Hope Restricted — classified as Small; players can access up to the Dining Room.
- Prison Restricted — multiple variants classified as Small, randomly assigned on contract load.
- Brownstone High School Restricted — multiple variants classified as Medium, randomly assigned; the map will have four total variants after the update, offering a degree of mystery each time players load in.
- A small piece of environmental decor outside each restricted map will indicate which variant is active.
Journal and evidence changes are also included, described as a continuation of adjustments made in the first QoL update. No specific changes are detailed in the preview.
The restricted-map format follows the existing Sunny Meadows Restricted template — shorter, more focused investigations within locations players already favour. For those who find Phasmophobia's larger maps unwieldy, the update offers a meaningful way to revisit familiar locations without committing to a full sweep.
