POP Float a-way Launches: Voice-Controlled Balloon Chaos for Eight Players

Black Coral Studio's party game uses your actual screaming as its sole input — and the multiplayer design is built around that absurdity.

POP Float a-way

POP Float a-way is now live on Steam. The premise is mechanical, not metaphorical: players scream into a microphone to move their balloon, fall silent and they drop, scream too hard and they pop.

What's in the launch build

  • Four modes: Deathmatch (eight balloons, one survivor), Race (first to the finish line), HotNeedle (a hidden needle, unknown holder), and Steal the Relic (grab it and run — but running requires screaming, which broadcasts your position)
  • Six maps across those modes
  • Up to eight players online with proximity voice chat — only nearby players are audible
  • A cosmetic editor for customizing a balloon's eyes, mouth, and freehand drawings

Black Coral Studio notes that more maps and modes are in development, and describes the team as actively fixing issues reported through Discord. A developer play session was announced for the launch evening.

The proximity voice chat detail is the sharpest design choice here: the same scream that moves you also reveals you, creating a feedback loop between the game's input and its social layer that four-player couch chaos rarely achieves online.
