RIFT Patch Restricts Polymorph Trinkets, Adds Mail Deletion and New Mount
A mid-summer update addresses a wardrobe unlock bug, curbs harassment via polymorph items, and opens up mailbox management.
The July 28, 2026 update for RIFT arrives under author Arcahem's byline and touches several distinct systems — from inventory housekeeping to an anti-harassment adjustment.
What changed
- Mail deletion is now available for most messages in the in-game mailbox, with auction mails excluded. The team warns that any items attached to a deleted mail are permanently lost and cannot be recovered; players in contact with Customer Support over a purchase issue are advised not to delete related mails.
- Battle Pass scheduling — an upcoming Battle Pass has been scheduled; the patch notes direct players to the official website for further detail.
- Wardrobe bug fixed — acquiring the Pathfinder set was incorrectly unlocking the Harrowing set instead. The Pathfinder bundle has been removed and replaced with the Harrowing bundle. Players seeking items equivalent to the Pathfinder set are pointed toward the Skulking set, described as "vastly the same."
- Mad Doctor's Syringe and Empowered Mad Doctor's Syringe have been adjusted: both trinkets can no longer polymorph other players and are now restricted to polymorphing the caster only. The notes cite ongoing reports of harassment as the reason — specifically, players being forced into a state without their consent.
- New mount — the "Summer Splash Surfboard" has been added to the game.
The polymorph change is the most consequential for live play: a tool previously used to grief other players has been neutered at its source, shifting these trinkets from a social irritant into a purely personal cosmetic effect.
