Scary Stories: Grotesque Adds Episode 21 and Shifts to Batch Release Schedule
A new horror episode and a change to the update cadence mark a quiet turning point for this episodic anthology.
What changed
The September 17 update for Scary Stories: Grotesque delivers the game's 21st episode, titled "The Welcome" — a late-night horror story following delivery rider Park Gisu as he makes a final chicken delivery to a remote rural village that other riders reportedly avoid. The episode unfolds along a dark mountain road, at an address Gisu has never visited before.
Beyond the new episode, the update also revisits existing content:
- Several horror scenes across older episodes have been converted from still images to video sequences, described by the developer as "more vivid" and "scarier."
The more structurally significant news is a change to the release schedule. After eight consecutive weeks of weekly updates, developer Game Museum is moving to batched releases of three to four episodes at a time. The stated reason is coordinating release timing across different platforms.
The developer has indicated that new episodes and improvements to existing episodes' horror presentation will both continue under the new model.
For players who had grown accustomed to a weekly cadence, the shift means longer waits between drops — but potentially more content arriving at once.
