SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed Launches with 8-Player Online and 64-Player Tournaments
The sequel to the 2016 competitive platformer arrives with expanded multiplayer, crossplay, and a single-player story campaign.
SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, developed by Fair Play Labs and published by tinyBuild, is now available on Steam. A launch discount of 10% is currently active.
The game is a sequel to the original SpeedRunners, the competitive platformer from 2016. Where the first game built its reputation on frantic local and online racing, the sequel expands the scope considerably.
What changed and what's included
- Multiplayer modes: Online and local play, with crossplay between PC and consoles
- Online capacity: Up to 8 players per match, plus 64-player tournaments
- Maps: 8 maps, each offering 2 distinct layouts
- Roster: 12 playable characters — a mix of new additions and returning runners
- Pick-ups: 10 total, with 8 returning from the original and 2 new ones
- Modes: Quick Play and Ranked for online; bot matches for solo practice
- Single-player: A story campaign is included
- Progression: Unlockable costumes and profile decorations
- Technical: Upgraded visuals and netcode
The development team has opened Bug Reports and suggestions subforums for post-launch community feedback.
For players who spent years in the original's local multiplayer, the jump to eight-person online matches and structured tournaments represents the most significant expansion the series has seen.
