Spiritstead Launches on Steam After Nearly Two Years of Development
Turbo Dog Games' debut title arrives with a launch discount and a warning for demo veterans about save-file compatibility.
Spiritstead, the debut game from Turbo Dog Games, is now available on Steam following nearly two years of development — a span that stretched well beyond the four-month window the team originally anticipated.
The studio credits the WINGS team with providing support, guidance, and encouragement throughout a process that involved redesigns, persistent bugs, and extensive playtesting.
What changed (and what to know at launch)
- Launch discount: Spiritstead is available at a 10% discount for the first two weeks after release.
- Demo save files are incompatible with the release version. The full game has changed significantly since the demo.
- Players who load an old demo save may encounter bugs. The studio recommends starting a new game.
- An old save file may still appear in the menu, but continuing from it is not advised.
For players who followed the project through its demo phase, the incompatibility notice is the most immediately practical detail: whatever progress existed before launch does not carry forward, and the game that shipped is meaningfully different from what was previously playable.
For everyone else, Spiritstead represents the first full release from a small independent team that, by its own account, learned a great deal along the way.
