TaleWorlds Launches War Sails Modding Competition With €30,000 in Prizes
A three-contest event running through late November invites Bannerlord modders to build ships, design coastal raid scenes, and craft full conversion mods around the naval-focused War Sails.
TaleWorlds has announced the War Sails Modding Competition for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, running from 14 August to 22 November, with a prize pool exceeding €30,000. The event is organized in collaboration with Nexus Mods and ModDB.
What's involved
The competition is structured around three distinct contests:
- Conversion Mod Contest — Total or partial conversion mods that make use of War Sails' naval campaign travel and naval battles, whether set in different time periods, different worlds, or built on the Native Base.
- 3D Art Contest — Ship creation, ranging from rowboats and merchant vessels to full warships, drawn from any era, culture, or original concept.
- Scene Design Contest — Seaborne Village Raid scenes depicting coastal assaults, judged on atmosphere, chaos, and battlefield composition.
Community voting is scheduled for late November, with final judging carried out by TaleWorlds developers. Winners will be announced in January.
Submissions carry a longer shelf life than most competition entries. Conversion mods and ships will be made available to War Sails players, while submitted vessels and Seaborne Village Raid scenes will be released as open-source resources for future modders to build upon.
An introductory stream on the Mount & Blade Modding Discord is scheduled for Monday at 20:00 CEST / 18:00 GMT.
For modders already invested in Bannerlord's toolset, this is a structured opportunity to produce work that enters the game's broader content ecosystem rather than fading after the judging period ends.
