A broad bug-fixing pass addresses multiplayer stability, healing quirks, and progression issues — but crossplay requires a separate beta branch for now.

Developer WoofgangPCG has shipped a substantial bug-fixing patch for Tears of Metal, prioritizing issues reported by the community while longer-term work on a Build Crafting, Emblems, and Metaprogression rework continues in parallel.

One immediate caveat: crossplay compatibility is disabled in this version. Players who need crossplay must opt into the dedicated "Crossplay" beta branch to remain on the previous build.

What changed

Multiplayer

  • Improved Epic Online Services (EOS) connection handling, including fixes for stale connections
  • Added clearer player-facing error messages for common multiplayer issues
  • Fixed multiple multiplayer healing bugs, including Heartening Fighter's incorrect effect radius and both Heartening Fighter and Blood Communion failing to trigger at full health
  • Fixed Host and Client save data becoming mixed together on clients
  • Players can no longer accidentally Revive or Give Up while typing in chat
  • Added a 1-second delay after death before a dead player can Give Up
  • Fixed Seraphic Blade sometimes failing to unlock in multiplayer; it now unlocks immediately upon collecting all pieces
  • Fixed players obtaining certain Seraphic Blade pieces before completing the game once with Wallace
  • Fixed Trials sometimes unlocking before the selected Hero could attempt them
  • Fixed Harold the Dragon sometimes becoming unkillable for certain clients
  • Fixed 3D sounds sometimes being inaudible while Spectating

Gameplay

  • Fixed a reward being lost if a reward screen was still open when a level ended; the pending reward now presents afterward

For a game where multiplayer progression and ability interactions are central, these corrections address some of the more disruptive friction points players had encountered.
