Worming from Home Removes Torment Mode Achievement, Adds In-Game Plaque
Patch 1.0.3 restructures the game's hardest challenge after player feedback revealed an unexpectedly large appetite for 100% completion.
Developer zachnorthropgames has pushed patch 1.0.3 for Worming from Home, making a notable structural change to the achievement system after conversations with players about the difficulty of completing the game fully.
What changed
- Wormhole Torment Mode is no longer an achievement. The developer cited the mode being too difficult and too disconnected from the rest of the game to justify its place in the achievement list.
- Retroactive unlock for near-completionists. Any player who held every achievement except the Torment Mode achievement before the patch will receive the Transcendental Invertebrate achievement automatically upon next launching the game.
- Torment Mode now rewards a wall plaque instead. Completing the wormhole on torment difficulty now grants an in-game decorative plaque. Players who had already finished the mode will find it waiting on their next launch.
- The patch also includes smaller tweaks and fixes not detailed in the announcement.
The change reflects a deliberate rebalancing of how the game recognizes its hardest content — shifting Torment Mode from a gating achievement into an optional prestige reward, while ensuring that dedicated players who were one unlock away from full completion aren't left behind.
