Enshrouded's 1.0 Combat Update Brings 9 New Spells and a Mage Overhaul
The developers behind Enshrouded have acknowledged what many players already felt: mages needed attention. When combat changes shipped in the previous update, the mystic classes were deliberately left for a later pass. That pass has now arrived.
What changed
Nine new spells have been added to Embervale, spanning utility, crowd control, damage, and a brand-new spell category — summons:
- Mana Drain — saps a fixed amount of mana per second from enemies and transfers it to the caster's pool
- Entangle — designed to help with tougher individual enemies
- Pillar of Flames
- Blizzard — area-of-effect spell for groups
- Ball Lightning — area-of-effect spell for groups
- Summon Fire Totem
- Summon Ice Totem
- Summon Shock Totem
- Summon Hollow Skeleton
Two new skill tree nodes let players increase the number of simultaneously active skeletons and totems.
Existing and new spells now receive more versioned tiers, so favored spell combinations remain viable across biomes. There are now 22 tier 7 "Eternal" spell versions — spells that do not consume spell ammo on cast. Eternal spells can also be upgraded similarly to weapons and armor, with new perks such as reduced mana cost. Enemy weaknesses have been reworked alongside these additions.
Spell mana costs and casting times have been rebalanced, though the source material ends before the full details of that rebalance are given.
For players who have leaned on the necromancy branch of the skill tree, the summon additions represent a meaningful expansion of that playstyle.
