Manor Lords Update #8 Adds Cows, Cider, Oats, and a Revamped HUD
Manor Lords' eighth major update has graduated from community beta testing to the main branch, carrying what developer notes describe as versions 0.8.090 through 0.8.104.
What changed
- New map: Wide Valley joins the existing roster of playable regions.
- HUD overhaul: The main interface has been refactored with a new layout, new features, and new art.
- Artisan Active Recipes: Replaces the old "Production Focus" system. Artisans now begin with no active recipes; players manually set and prioritize their production queue.
- New beverages: Cider (brewed from Apples at a 4:1 ratio) and Mead (brewed from Honey at 1:1) are both produced at the Brewery.
- Cows and Calves: Importable via the Livestock Trader. Cows yield Milk passively and can be butchered for Beef and Hides.
- Oats: A new field crop that shares fertility with Barley but offers greater resilience. Sheaves thresh directly into consumable Oats.
- Animal Feed: Oats can be processed into Animal Feed at the Livestock Farm (formerly the Sheep Farm) at a 1:2 ratio.
- Hungry Animals mechanic: Cows, Calves, Sheep, and Lambs now consume Animal Feed each winter month — or die without it.
- Cheesemonger workshop: A new Artisan building unlocked at Burgage Plot Level 3.
The author notes the next update is planned for late September and will focus on new Perks.
For players who left negative reviews over content pacing, this patch represents a meaningful expansion of Manor Lords' economic loops — though whether it fully closes that gap is a question the game's forums and Discord will answer in the weeks ahead.
