    GAME RELEASED

    From the recorded announcement

This has been a long and painstaking process. I'll be blunt about it. I nearly gave up on this project and game design as a whole, but here we are. I personally apologize for how long this has taken. I have a lot of good excuses, but that's what they are, excuses. So Instead, we will talk about what is up with this…

This has been a long and painstaking process. I'll be blunt about it. I nearly gave up on this project and game design as a whole, but here we are. I personally apologize for how long this has taken. I have a lot of good excuses, but that's what they are, excuses. So Instead, we will talk about what is up with this game!!I switched to an entirely different game engine. No shade to Unreal and the team at Epic, but it just wasn't the engine for me. I had a great time learning it, but I just couldn't get myself to ever really like it. So, we are now using Godot! The game looks quite a bit different as this conversion was my first real project on this engine. I tried to get the game looking similar to the old version, but just never got there fully. I personally like this new direction for it. The Maze level is A LOT smaller. I mean A LOT. It was honestly always too big, and I wanted the game to feel like it progresses rather than regressing in map size. So now it feels like the final level is the biggest and the maze doesn't take so long to complete. It also helped with a lot of things, like the monster being present and the difficulty of that initial level. There was also a lot of issues with that level being the very first thing we ever did as a team. That's a few self-taught people working on that first level from novices to whatever we are now. The models were way too complex, and the code probably qualified as a war crime. Now it flows and works, and your computer will *probably not* blow up. The first part of the Second Level is gone. I just deleted it. Didn't ever feel…

    Massive Overhaul Update

Hi, it's been a while! I'll go more into why in the "Status Update" portion, but first I wanted to cover what exactly this update is and why it was so important. Hi, it's been a while! I'll go more into why in the "Status Update" portion, but first I wanted to cover what exactly this update is and why it was so important. VisualsThe visuals of the game were always a work in progress and bound to change. I didn't plan on that change being this big. There are still a lot of similarities in style and that approach, but the UI and rendering have both been overhauled not once but multiple times before landing on what it is now. I made the decision to switch the game to forward rendering after a lot of thinking it over. It was a switch that I personally believe made our game better. We just weren't utilizing deferred rendering to its potential for this game and the frames saved in the switch helped a lot. We had also originally made every asset in the game ourselves, and when you are a really small team working for free, it gets hard and tedious to say the least. That said we were able to integrate some lovely asset packs that really brought the game to a new level and were a complete gamechanger. I can say I'm finally happy with the look of the game and hope you guys are too.tldr: UI was completely changedGame switched to forward rendering (performance gain was too much to ignore)Slight stylistic choices made to change visualsIntegration of some high-quality assets to compliment the overall aesthetic of the game. GameplayTo be brief... the game was basically stripped down and remade. Thats as plain as it gets.I can't stress that enough the game was entirely remade. The base code everything was done on was just bad and that's entirely my…

Major Changes Chapter 2: The Alkurai Dungeons, featuring new monster(s) has been released. Chapter 1 has had some major face-lifting and QOL changes for a better experience. Players have bodies!!! This was something I meant to do a long time ago, but I forgor ːsteamboredː With this came some changes to how the first person works and overall improvement to the death screens and immersion. Minor Changes A lot of small QOL changes were made that were requested and/or thought of later. The mini game from the closed beta is back in the lobby! It almost works all of the time too!!!! ːsteamhappyː Some AI changes again for the chapter 1 monsters. We just want to thank those of you that have been here since the beginning and are super happy to finally release this second chapter for you all to play. As always feel free to leave feedback in the google docs linked in the announcements if you run into any issues and we will get to work on them as soon as possible. Have fun!!
