Forest of Deceit Adds Six Languages in Human-Translated Localisation Patch

Forest of Deceit, a social deduction game in which players attempt to identify Innocents from Traitors through conversation and observed behavior, has received localisation support across six languages.

The developer notes that mistranslated or unfamiliar UI text carries particular stakes in this genre — a missed button label or hesitation while reading can itself be misread as suspicious behavior by other players. Accessibility across ages and backgrounds was also cited as a driving motivation for the update.

What changed

  • Added localisation support for German
  • Added localisation support for French
  • Added localisation support for Spanish
  • Added localisation support for Brazilian Portuguese
  • Added localisation support for Simplified Chinese
  • Added localisation support for Italian
  • Various minor bug fixes

The developer also noted that no AI tools were used in producing the translations, crediting human translators for the work — a distinction they said mirrors their approach to the base game's development.

For players who previously found the language barrier a source of friction rather than intrigue, the patch removes an unintended variable from a game that already has plenty of deliberate ones.
