Rocket League v2.72 Adjusts Kickoff Fairness and Overhauls Streamer Mode
Rocket League's v2.72 patch, published August 4, 2026, carries a meaningful gameplay change alongside a cluster of stability fixes and privacy refinements.
What changed
Gameplay
- Teams down a player will now always spawn in an advantageous kickoff position when shorthanded — a direct competitive adjustment.
- Snow Day and Rumble Free Play maps can now be played as Soccar.
- The Stats API gains WebSocket support; commands can now be issued to the game externally. Full documentation is to be published on the Rocket League website at launch.
Streamer Mode & Privacy
- Players with Streamer Mode active are added to the recent players tab at match end rather than the beginning.
- Anonymized players now have their Banner, Title, and Avatar hidden.
- Several gaps in teammate and opponent anonymization during gameplay have been fixed.
Performance & Stability
- Reduced occurrences of "Error 71" in Ranked Doubles.
- Reduced crash rate on Nintendo Switch.
- Fixed a launch failure tied to an Easy Anti-Cheat popup loop.
- Fixed a PC crash triggered by opening Settings or entering Training/Free Play.
- Fixed crashes on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 in the Garage.
Visuals
- Improved console rendering.
- Adjusted lighting on the Futura Main Menu.
