Drone Sector Enters Early Access July 21 with Career Mode and 10 Maps
Drone Sector, a gunship battlefield-support game, moves into Early Access on July 21 at $16.99, with a 10% discount applied at launch. Pricing may vary by Steam region.
The demo gave players a focused taste of core gunship gameplay — spotting enemies, calling fire support, guiding ground squads, and managing anti-air threats — but left the larger structure offscreen. That structure is now the point.
What Early Access adds
- Career Mode: missions are linked, with consequences carrying forward. Ammo storage, resources, and drone damage all persist between sorties; damage can be repaired, but attrition accumulates.
- Difficulty options within Career Mode let players calibrate how punishing the long-term pressure becomes.
- 10 hand-crafted maps: one smaller 1 km × 1 km map and nine larger 3 km × 3 km maps.
- Multiple mission types: simple extraction objectives, staged capture sequences where objectives reveal one after another, and search missions where the correct objectives aren't immediately known.
- The mission system procedurally generates setups onto those authored maps, varying each run.
- More weapons and ammo options than the demo offered, with loadout customization.
The distinction the developer draws is meaningful: a single mission can be won through spending freely and absorbing losses, but Career Mode asks whether that approach remains viable over a full campaign — a pressure the demo never surfaced.
