Whack-A-Monster Launches July 28 as Demo Receives Pre-Release Overhaul
Brainfog Games has announced that Whack-A-Monster will release on July 28, one week from the date of this announcement. The team describes final fixes and polish as still underway, but characterizes the full version as otherwise ready following pre-release testing.
What changed in the demo
The updated demo brings it closer to the full release build. One significant trade-off accompanies the update: existing demo progress resets. Going forward, however, progress will transfer to the full game — a meaningful shift for players already invested in the demo.
Content and system additions include:
- The Bestiary is now accessible in the demo
- A new system requiring players to choose a skill or mechanic to focus on
- Additional hammers and upgrades
- Quality-of-life additions
- Balance changes
- Bugfixes and general polish
Brainfog Games notes that playing the full version without the demo first is, in their view, the better way to experience it — though the updated demo is available for those who want a head start.
For players who have been following development, the progress-transfer feature removes the usual friction of demo saves becoming obsolete at launch.
