Thank you to everyone who has played so far during Early Access, and a special thank you to everyone who has filed bugs or given feedback. Despite a rocky launch with delayed Steam approval, the game has hit its Early Access sales goals and the path is clear to a full launch in Q2 2027. All of the feedback and data from those who opted in to the Early Access gameplay report telemetry has given me a really clear idea of where the game needs to improve to reach its full potential. So what can you expect over the next few months? Major Updates The goal is to release a major update once per month, with smaller bug-fix, balance, and optimization patches in between where necessary. As the game gets closer to launch in Q2 2027, major updates will end and all work will go towards preparing the full release for all platforms. What will major updates include? Here are some of the biggest changes that are planned based on current user feedback. Note: Plans may change based on new data, feedback, or development issues. Gameplay Improvements Help struggling players learn combat strategy and how to put together a build Provide new talismans, tools, and items that let players create more complicated and unusual builds Make nighttime more fun while retaining its fear factor Improved Book of Burdens balancing Improvements to Strict mode Story and World Improvements Add new dialog, NPCs, and interactions to deepen the player's connections to the story Show the extended impact of player decisions with a post-credits epilogue sequence taking place the following year Improve Reliable Repairs…

Withering Realms Demo Live as Developer Awaits Steam Early Access Approval

Moonless Formless, the developer behind Withering Realms, published a demo on September 4, 2026, after Steam's Early Access approval process stalled without a clear resolution date. The game itself is described as ready — hundreds of hours of community beta testing completed, trailer finished — but the launch is on hold pending platform approval.

What changed

  • A playable demo is now available on Steam
  • Save progress from the demo carries over directly to the Early Access release
  • The demo covers the game's opening and concludes just before reaching the town of Penwyll
  • Players who complete the demo will be able to enter Penwyll immediately when Early Access launches
  • Players from a previous Next Fest period can start a fresh run via the in-game Realms menu option

The developer offered no timeline for when approval might come, framing the demo release explicitly as a way to reduce the wait.

For players who have been following Withering Realms, the demo offers a meaningful head start: finishing it now means arriving at Penwyll without delay once Early Access eventually opens.
