Hello, dear players! This update was essentially groundwork for the upcoming 1980s–90s update. We’ve overhauled the military system on a large scale—from the underlying mechanics to the UI. While it might be a stretch to call it a “complete” improvement… we’ve conducted multiple rounds of in-house QA to refine the UI to the point where it’s at least more user-friendly than the previous gameplay experience. Of course, this isn’t a complete overhaul—it’s more of an enhancement of the existing UI. In addition, we’ve addressed issues where unnecessary information made it difficult to easily access features essential for actual gameplay. And, of course, the most important aspect is the expansion into the 1990s. However, while the 80s–90s content was originally planned for this update—and I spent about 14 to 15 hours a day working on it—it’s a massive undertaking that expands the main game by at least 60% and up to 80%. Given that only three weeks have passed since the last update, and the two-week lead time for the update announcement, the quality fell short of what players would find enjoyable. Consequently, we were only able to implement a portion of the planned features (the features added this time represent about one-third of the total planned updates). Above all, since the current gameplay experience and UX (user experience) of the main game fall significantly short of the game’s ultimate goals, I felt we couldn’t simply stop at adding more content—so I sincerely ask for your understanding, players! For about one week, we plan to address bugs I didn’t catch during the…

Another update is planned for today! Along with fixes for additional bugs that have been reported, this update will also include some small UI improvements. I've spent several hours playing through the game myself and have been applying the UI/UX improvements I noticed along the way, with the goal of making the overall gameplay experience more convenient. (This won't be another complete UI overhaul like some of the previous updates! The current UI will remain largely the same. I'm simply making it easier to understand information at a glance and to carry out decisions more conveniently.) I'm also preparing a future update that will give AI to non-playable countries, allowing them to develop more naturally on their own. I've also added state-like administrative divisions to each region, and I'm continuing to work on further performance optimizations. The latest improvements to the game's writing style that I've been working on will also be included. The update will probably be released sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning (KST). I've also been developing it using a method suggested to me by another player, so hopefully this will greatly reduce the kind of recurring errors that happened with some of the previous updates. After trying the new approach myself, it really does seem much better. I'd like to thank every player who continues to help the game improve and develop. I'll do my best to deliver a polished update with as few bugs as possible, as soon as I can. Have a great day!

For the Fatherland v1.05 Targets UI Overhaul, Encyclopedia, and a 1991 Timeline Extension
The developer of For the Fatherland: Chronicle of Park Chung-hee has published an update on work in progress toward version 1.05, framing the announcement as a request for player feedback before anything reaches Steam's beta testing channel.
The process is conditional: if the community responds positively to the current UI direction, the developer will complete the design, push it to beta, gather further feedback, and only then fold it into the main update.
What's planned for 1.05
UI restructure: The internal tab system is being removed. Selecting a function from the left-side UI will now display all relevant information, actions, and numerical adjustments on the right-side UI within a single screen.
Encyclopedia: A new reference feature covering characters, countries, political parties, terms, historical background, gameplay routes, and other information.
Bug fixes: Particularly those related to national defense, among other currently reported issues.
Historical content: Additional material covering the lead-up to May 16 and the period of military rule, with improved historical accuracy.
Minigames: Important recurring content is to be replaced with unique minigames or dedicated content.
Global events: The influence of major world events — including the Sino-Soviet split — will expand, affecting national management through dedicated content.
Additional content: New material spanning the years 1964–1972.
Timeline extension: The game's timeline is planned to extend to 1991, described as a much larger change — though the source text cuts off before full details are given.
For players, this update represents a significant broadening of both the game's historical scope and its reference tools, though nothing is finalized until community feedback clears the way.

Patch 1.02 Brings Translation Overhaul and 30% Performance Gain
Developer Fultuka has shipped Patch 1.02 for For the Fatherland: Chronicle of Park Chung-hee, addressing a wide range of issues flagged since launch.
What changed
Approximately 50% of English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese translations have been reviewed and rewritten; the remaining half is slated for Patch 1.03
Performance testing shows the game now runs roughly 30% faster
Further tutorial refinements beyond what Patch 1.01 addressed
Fixed the "Entering the Developed World" event, which previously allowed recurring aid and begging events to persist after reaching developed-country status
Bugs tied to labor support and discontent resolved
Flickering tooltip at the top of the screen corrected
Defense tab now includes previously absent UI elements: equipment production, troop recovery targets, and estimated completion dates
GDP-related calculation issues fixed
Visual elements received broad improvements
The developer notes an intention to maintain save compatibility across medium-sized updates (1.01, 1.02, 1.03) wherever possible, and has opted for a frequent, incremental release cadence rather than large consolidated patches. Patch 1.03 is described as focusing on the remaining translation work, UI polish, reduced hardcoded elements, expanded modding tools, and additional quality-of-life features.
For players navigating the late-game, the corrected developed-world event logic and Defense tab additions are the most immediately tangible gains.
