Derail Valley's B100 — Its Biggest Update Yet — Enters Early Development
Altfuture has published the first progress report for B100, the 100th build of Derail Valley and, by the developer's own description, the game's largest update to date. The post arrives roughly ten years into the game's development.
The studio is measured about expectations: B100 is still in early development, a release is targeted for the end of 2027 or possibly later, and the developer explicitly notes there is no release date and that the schedule could slip further given the complexity involved.
What's been revealed so far
- WE6-960 Electric Locomotive — the game's first proper electric locomotive, powered by an overhead line. It is described as a large, late-game, dual-cab engine rated for 2,000 tonnes of freight haul, offering strong visibility.
- Soundtrack update — a major update to the game's soundtrack was announced, though no further detail appears in this dispatch.
- Public roadmap — a high-level vision for B100 is available on the studio's public roadmap; these progress posts are intended to add specifics over time.
Alongside the announcement, Altfuture is participating in Steam's Train Fest 2026 event with a 25% discount running for seven days — only the second discount the game has ever received.
For players, B100 represents a long horizon: meaningful details are only beginning to surface, and the studio is being candid that the timeline is genuinely unpredictable.
