Adventure Land's August Update Adds Mainframe, 40 Items, and Eleven Emotes
Adventure Land — the browser-meets-programming MMORPG — shipped a substantial August update, touching nearly every layer of the game. The headlining addition is Mainframe, a service that keeps a character's saved CODE running after the browser is closed. Players choose a character, a CODE slot, and a live realm; Mainframe then handles execution inside an isolated machine. Steam owners receive 250 free Mainframe hours shared across linked Adventure Land accounts; once those are consumed, the service renews automatically using Shells. CODE can also spin up to three additional workers alongside the root character, all sharing the same machine and hourly window.
What changed
- 40 new items spanning weapons, offhands, jewelry, armor, and crafting materials, obtainable through crafting, shops, PvP Tokens, Ent drops, and new material uses
- Rogues gained Fan of Knives, an item-granted skill that sends five knives at nearby targets
- Priests can begin crafting the Worldroot Crook, a T4 staff requiring a Harbringer +8 and rare materials
- Level 90 Mages can now use Arcane Needle with a wand — reduced damage, but it pierces resistance and reflection while retaining normal attack effects
- 11 new emotes added to the New Misc. cosmetic box, including High Five, Boop, Spotlight, Pocket Storm, Mirror Disco, and Joy; every emote has a matching sound
- Drop Egg and Rising Hearts now unlock and function like standard emotes
- Five new Citizens and expanded Tutorial and Game Guide content covering both manual play and CODE paths
- A major CODE reliability update and new Steam clients
For players who script their characters, Mainframe removes the constraint of keeping a browser open — a meaningful quality-of-life shift for an idle-adjacent game built around automation.
