7 Days to Die V3.1.0 Adds Chicken Farming, Stress Mechanics, and Coop Workstation

What changed

Version 3.1.0 of 7 Days to Die, titled Henpocalypse, is now live on the stable branch. Dedicated server players who cannot connect are advised to manually select the "Default Public Version" branch to reach v3.1.0.

The headline addition is the Chicken Coop workstation. Chickens must be caught in the field — by sneaking or simply giving chase — then escorted back to base while fending off zombies. Once housed, they produce eggs and feathers and require Rekt's Chicken Feed, crafted from Corn and Rotting Flesh.

The Coop accepts three tool-slot upgrades:

• Brooding Lamp — speeds up production and chicken maturation
• Chicken Run — lets chickens forage for bugs, reducing feed cost by 50%
• Nesting Box — unlocks breeding and adds nesting slots

A Chicken Stress mechanic accompanies the system: if a carried chicken reaches 100% stress, it is dropped and a game-stage-appropriate event triggers — outcomes range from attracting angered zombies to provoking a flock of angry chickens. A sandbox option allows tuning these events.

Four new chicken-centric recipes have been added, including Chicken Nuggets (the source text cuts off before the full list is available).

On the settings side, Sandbox Options for enemy and animal Density and Respawn rates have been split into separate day and night values. Players using preset codes should verify them, as invalid codes may reset some or all settings; Official Presets have been updated accordingly.
