Box Knight Launches on Steam With 15% Discount Through 8 September
Six years after prototyping began, Adelaide indie studio WeMaT has shipped its roguelite office-horror — and the launch sale window is short.
After six years of development, Box Knight is now available on Steam. Developer We Made A Thing Studios — a three-person indie outfit based in Adelaide, South Australia — self-published the title following a period of publisher meetings that, by their own account, went nowhere.
A launch sale of 15% off runs until Monday, 8 September 2026, after which the game returns to full price.
What's in the game
The studio describes Box Knight as a roguelite with the following features, drawn directly from their announcement:
- Full roguelite campaign — weapons, elemental specialisations, and build-crafting that the developers say escalates significantly by floor four
- Local co-op — two-player couch co-op supported
- Boss fights framed as "monstrous abstractions" of workplace antagonists
- Costumes, secrets, and a cubicle mechanic that grants progression on death
The studio traces the project to a 2020 prototype grant, with subsequent appearances at Gamescom, PAX, and SAGE — where it received a Best in Exhibition award.
Post-launch, the team has indicated plans for updates, quality-of-life fixes, and new content, and is directing bug reports and feedback to their Discord and Steam Discussions.
For players on the fence, the narrowing sale window is the most concrete pressure point: eight days remain at the discounted price.
