Box Knight v1.0.0.3 Beta Patches Co-op Stats, Boss Softlocks, and Input Swallowing
Developer Lykarn, returning from a Gamescom appearance in Germany, has released v1.0.0.3 as a beta branch patch for Box Knight — cautioning that the update touches many systems and a full rollout to the main branch will follow after a couple of days of testing.
What changed
Co-op
- Meta and Outfit stats were not applying correctly in co-op; now fixed.
- Scaling upgrades were incorrectly applying to both players rather than only the one who picked them.
Bosses
- Fire status was dealing damage to bosses that should be immune to it.
- A softlock could occur if a boss died before reaching its final phase.
- The boss health bar sometimes failed to toggle correctly during intro sequences.
Gameplay & Balance
- Gravity has been added to Attack, Drink, and Charge player activities.
- Players can now dodge out of the Claymore regular attack's third hit.
- Stat gating added to specific in-run upgrades (e.g., a fire-on-crit upgrade now requires some crit stat).
- Modifier rewards no longer allow duplicate stat rolls (e.g., Common Damage and Rare Damage cannot both appear).
Fixes
- Enemy Fire damage was not resetting the Buzz status on the player.
- UI overlap between Employee Evaluation and Savable Worker resolved.
- Savable Worker now permits selecting the Drink option when full, though the reward cannot be claimed.
- Missile reflection ricochet now correctly targets flying Overseers.
- Horde mode was only spawning melee enemies after the first loop.
- Loading a save with a different gender no longer fails to refresh the display dummy.
Settings & Input
- VSync setting was not applying correctly on load, breaking saved target FPS.
- Input buffering added during hitstop to prevent swallowed inputs, noted as especially noticeable in co-op.
- Cursor lock state added to prevent accidental off-screen clicks.
- Button prompts updated to display M4/M5 instead of Back/Forward.
- Steam Cloud saving enabled for Dev and Tester accounts, pending full rollout once confirmed working.
For co-op players in particular, the stat application and input buffering corrections address issues that could meaningfully distort runs — making this patch worth opting into before it reaches the main branch.
