Chaos Front's Day One Patch Fixes Discounts, Softlocks, and Pushes Bad Ending Back a Year
Developer Han Zhiyu shipped nearly ten updates in the first 18 hours after launch, addressing bugs and softening the game's most punishing deadline.
Solo developer Han Zhiyu spent the opening day of Chaos Front in reactive mode, pushing close to ten small updates in eighteen hours and summarizing the changes in a single community post.
What changed
- Mouse cursor shaking — a bug affecting some players has been fixed.
- Default video mode — the game now launches in windowed mode rather than its previous default.
- Company traditions — the Mech Primacy and Fleet Primacy traditions were not applying their unit price discounts; they now do.
- Campaign battle join failure — a bug caused both sides to fail to load a campaign battle when the player was hostile with the attacking faction; fixed.
- Workshop item list — the purchase list would sometimes not appear on entering the Workshop; fixed.
- Sparring Contract prerequisite — the Sparring Contract mission is now a required step before the Psionic Weapon mission. Players who recruited Barbara before completing Sparring Contract are warned not to bring her into that mission, as doing so can cause a softlock.
- Ending 8 trigger date — moved to 30/12/C.E.29, representing a full year's extension from the original deadline.
On the last point, Han Zhiyu acknowledged community frustration with the original timing but was explicit that the underlying design — mercenaries without ideals accelerating the world toward ruin — will not change, only the window players have to avoid it.
For anyone already mid-campaign, updating the game is enough to apply the extended deadline.
