Conan Exiles Enhanced Patch 2.2.0 Brings UE 5.8.2 and Iris Networking

Patch 2.2.0 is now live for Conan Exiles Enhanced, moving the game to Unreal Engine 5.8.2 and enabling Iris — the replacement for UE4's legacy networking layer — with dedicated-server performance as the primary stated goal.

What changed

• Unreal Engine 5.8.2 replaces the previous engine version, described as laying groundwork for further improvements.
• Iris networking is now enabled. The old networking layer scaled poorly: a full server reportedly took eight times longer to process the same work as a quiet one. With Iris, servers maintain speed as player counts rise.
• Early results cited in the announcement show servers experiencing roughly half the lag observed before the switch.
• The engine upgrade forced a recook of all mods due to serialization changes in the base engine. Mods will appear out of date until their authors recook them.

What's coming

On October 6, The Legacy of the Giant-Kings: Part Two is set to arrive, adding new content to both the Exiled Lands and the Isle of Siptah. The announcement does not detail specific features beyond "new mysteries, challenges and secrets."

The game's first-ever Modding Contest also concluded, with the community voting for a Top 10.

For players on dedicated servers, the Iris upgrade is the most tangible immediate change — server performance under load has been a persistent friction point, and the numbers cited suggest a meaningful reduction in lag at capacity.
