Crusader Kings III Hotfix 1.20.0.3 Patches Nine Bugs from By God Alone Launch
A targeted pre-weekend hotfix addresses elective title logic, a crusade crash, and several faith-system edge cases introduced with the recent expansion.
Developer PDX-Trinexx pushed hotfix 1.20.0.3 for Crusader Kings III on October 1, 2026, describing it as a small patch for high-priority issues surfaced since the release of the By God Alone expansion. Further fixes for reported problems are still in progress and will arrive at a later date.
What changed
- Elective titles: Only the currently winning candidate is now blocked from being directly granted an elective title — previously, all candidates were incorrectly prevented.
- Frankokratia crash: A crash occurring in the fourth crusade's Frankokratia story has been resolved.
- Iberian Struggle: Chalcedonians are now correctly counted as participants.
- Nomad faith reform: Nomads can once again reform faiths.
- Coronation doctrines: The Coronation doctrines no longer block rite editing for players without the Coronations DLC.
- Non-Christian head of faith: Creating a head of faith title as a non-Christian no longer leaves the character without an heir.
- Pilgrimage costs: Non-Christian theocrats without a treasury are no longer incorrectly charged for pilgrimages.
- Travel contracts: Contracts no longer invalidate upon the traveler's arrival.
- UI string: The By God Alone skin label in the settings menu is now displayed correctly.
Taken together, the fixes close off several edge cases that could quietly derail campaigns — particularly for players exploring the expansion's non-Christian and nomadic content.
