Dota 2 Patch 7/1/2026: Dark Carnival Rewards, Role Queue Eased, Crashes Fixed
A broad maintenance update reshapes how players earn Dark Carnival currency, loosens Ranked Roles requirements, and clears out a long list of bugs.
A July 1 update from flynnch addresses accumulated issues across Dark Carnival, ranked matchmaking, bot behavior, and general stability.
Dark Carnival changes
The most substantive additions concern the event's reward economy:
- Regular and Turbo games now grant Scrap tickets (2 and 1 respectively), win or lose.
- 6 Scrap can be traded for a Hero ticket of the player's choice.
- Seeing Stones can now be earned in Co-op Bot Matches on Hard and Unfair difficulties.
- Candyworks now flags items already owned before purchase.
- The Hero Filter button gained a tooltip showing the ticket requirement for the next reward.
- Several event bugs were corrected: the Ticket Trader failing for some players, Ability Draft and co-op bot matches not granting tickets, and Fortune Teller rerolls being incorrectly capped by the weekly maximum.
Ranked Roles adjustment
Players no longer need to select both high-demand roles to avoid spending a Role Queue Game — selecting at least one is now sufficient.
Bug fixes
- Innate AoE abilities now display their range indicator when hovered.
- Fixed a Captain's Mode edge case allowing entry without a hero.
- Fixed bots pursuing items near enemy towers and getting stuck while dewarding.
- Ability charges with an Aghanim's Scepter upgrade no longer get stuck when the item is repeatedly dropped and picked up.
- Recipes in stash no longer auto-combine when a Tormentor shard is received.
- Fixed inability to spectate league matches, close the in-game Coach dialog, and various server and client crashes.
- Automaton Personas now use the correct hero chat wheel lines.
Taken together, the update makes Dark Carnival progression more accessible to players who prefer bots or shorter modes, while the Role Queue change reduces friction for solo-queue ranked players willing to fill even one high-demand position.
