ELDEN RING

Patch 1.17 for Elden Ring published on August 27, 2026, one day before the scheduled release of the Tarnished Pack DLC. The patch serves two purposes: enabling the DLC's new content and delivering a round of gameplay balance adjustments.

What changed

Tarnished Pack additions (active upon DLC purchase)

  • Two new starting classes — Idus Knight and Heavy Knight — selectable at character creation. Their equipment can also be found or purchased in the base game world.
  • New weapons available from merchants or as world loot.
  • Three Spectral Steed Attire options that alter Torrent's appearance: Tree Sentinel (Stormveil Castle), Silver of Caria (Liurnia of the Lakes), and Funereal Night (Altus Plateau). Once any attire is obtained, a new appearance option appears in the Site of Grace menu.
  • An NPC invasion event in Caelid.
  • An NPC invasion event in Leyndell, Royal Capital — this event will not trigger after the area becomes Leyndell, Ashen Capital.

Balance adjustments

  • Certain field and powerful-enemy drops in the Realm of Shadow upgraded to higher-tier items. Already-collected items are unaffected.
  • Smithscript Dagger / Rellana's Twin Blades — increased critical hit power.
  • Smithscript Axe / Smithscript Spear / Spear of the Impaler — reduced stamina cost of throwing attacks; increased throwing attack power.
  • Carian Sorcery Sword — Intelligence scaling changed (source text is truncated at the point of detail).

For players who have been leaning on throwing-weapon builds or critical-hit windows, the weapon changes are immediately relevant regardless of whether they purchase the DLC.
