Factory Town 2 Patch 136 Adds Mana Rechargers to Cut Crystal Costs
A long-requested recycling loop from the original game arrives, letting players recover Depleted Mana Crystals rather than discarding them.
Shrine buildings in Factory Town 2: Paradise have long carried a quiet liability: they fully consume Mana Crystals, which are costly to produce given the water demands of obtaining Mana Shards. Patch 136, authored by Erik Asmussen, addresses this directly by porting the Mana Recharger system from the first game.
What changed
- Mana Rechargers accept Depleted Mana Crystals and a small amount of Magic Powder to produce a standard Mana Crystal, closing a recovery loop that previously didn't exist.
- New Shrine recipes (water and steam variants) now yield Depleted Mana Crystals as a byproduct. These recipes are slightly less efficient than the existing non-rechargeable versions, which remain available.
- Magic Powder is a new recipe at the Stone Mason — Mana Shards ground into dust. It can be sold to townspeople to satisfy their need for Magic items, but its primary role is fueling Rechargers.
- The Mana Recharger has three production speed upgrades.
- Mana Crystals and Depleted Mana Crystals can now travel through Mana Pipes, not just Mana Power.
- Mana Pipe transport speed has been doubled.
- Task Config received adjustments: the "Num Attempts" setting has been refined and is no longer applied to several "Wait Until..." conditions where it was not meaningful.
The full recharger loop runs: Mana Ore → Mana Shards → Mana Crystals and Magic Powder → Mana Power Generator → Shrine (yields Depleted Crystal) → Recharger → Mana Crystal → back to the Generator.
For players who have been avoiding Shrines due to their resource drain, the loop makes sustained Mana Power production meaningfully more viable.
