Fogpiercer's First Post-Launch Update Adds Motion Sickness Mode and Tutorial Toggle
The accessibility patch addresses a core tension in a game built entirely around constant motion.
Fogpiercer, a game the developers describe as built around "movement, speed and constant motion," has received its first post-launch update. Author Lentsius, writing on behalf of the team, acknowledges that an earlier attempt to reduce motion sickness through lower travel speeds proved insufficient — "We were wrong," the post states plainly.
What changed
The update's centrepiece is a new Motion Sickness Mode, toggled under the Accessibility settings menu. When enabled, it applies several changes:
- Visuals are replaced with grayboxed elements
- Fights are made as stationary as possible, including removed environmental particles
- Camera motion is reduced, particularly during extreme movements and random encounters
- Fewer visual assets are shown at stations to lower the count of moving objects
- Cliffs and canyons are supported within the mode
- The main menu switches to a static version of itself
- Higher FPS as a result of fewer rendered objects
Beyond motion sickness, the patch also adds an option to disable tutorial tooltips that continue appearing after the tutorial is complete, and introduces a save icon displayed at the bottom of the screen (the source text is truncated at this point).
The developers note that further camera motion reduction is planned for future updates, describing the current implementation as a "first solid effort."
For players who had shelved the game due to discomfort, this update offers a meaningful first path back in.
