GeoFlag Launches: A Solo-Built Geography Game Built Around a 3D Earth

GeoFlag, developed solo by ogorod, launched on July 13, 2026. The game grew from a stated premise: that learning countries should feel like curiosity rather than rote memorization. It covers all 193 UN member countries, plus additional territories.

What's in the game

• Study Mode — a navigable, photoreal 3D globe players can spin and explore at their own pace
• Map Game — opens with a cinematic descent from orbit onto the globe; guided tours move region by region through every country
• Endless Expedition — a single-run mode with three lanterns as a resource, focused on how far a player can go
• Daily Challenge — one puzzle per day, identical for all players
• Geo Cards — shorter memory rounds designed for brief sessions
• Souvenir Fridge / home room — 25 achievements appear as physical magnets on a fridge door, unlocking in color as they are earned; the room itself fills in gradually with objects including a plant, photos, a poster, and a lamp
• Full Steam achievement support, reflected on player profiles

A guide accompanies players throughout, and also appears in the home room, pointing toward whichever achievement is closest to being unlocked.

Ogorod notes the game was inspired by a daughter whose curiosity about the world prompted the project; she playtested every version throughout development.
